Built in 1894, itβs earned a spot on the National Register of Historic Places. Youβll see signs of the old rugged west when you note the bullet holes on the second floor. (The County sheriff and City Marshall got into a shootout back in 1915.) The five-story red brick building nearby was once the county jail, built in 1908. It now serves as a museum.
Visitors come from all over the region to camp at the Lockhart State Park. You can swim, golf, and hike here while you enjoy the scenic views and wildlife.
If the Cityβs history and outdoor activities arenβt enough to keep you busy, the annual events are sure to draw you to the downtown area. The Sip & Stroll every April gives you a chance to drink, eat, and wander. One ticket buys you a total of 10 beer and wine tastings at participating businesses stationed throughout town. The second weekend in June is set aside for the rodeo and music festival. Bring the entire family out to celebrate Lochartβs Chisholm Trail history.

"Pablo always does an amazing wonderful job and this was our third and final lawnmower because there is no more grass here we lost our trees during a freeze a couple years ago so all this heat and sun coming down on our lawn without shade it It's all dead there really isn't anything to mowe just wanted the edging done these last couple times but And we love it and thank you so much and thank Pablo and if we ever end up with grass again we will call and have him start doing it again"
