The city of Bastrop has put mandated water restrictions into place, effective immediately, after high usage over the past several weeks by residents and businesses, city manager Mike Talbot announced Wednesday.
He said the total water usage is at a critical level β hitting the two-million gallon mark on June 29 and July 4.
βWeβre really spiking on water usage and weβve got to get that under control,β Talbot said. He said the average daily usage of water in the city was 1.84 million gallons/day from June 22 through July 10.
Talbot said he would likely have city employees hand-deliver notices to all residents, as well as post the notice and water restrictions on the cityβs website: cityofbastrop.org

Weeds and Rubbish - Covers uncultivated vegetation on private property and adjacent public property that has grown to a height over 12 inches and junk or debris that has not been properly disposed of. Property owners are notified by regular mail and by a posting placed on the property. Properties that remain in violation at re-inspection are put on mowers lists that are issued to private contractors for abatement.
