Bush Trimming

Paul and his crew did an excellent job with the boxwoods and even the tall hedges. I was afraid to have them prune the flowering shrubs, but they managed to shape them without damaging the flowers I'm so glad LawnStarter offers this service!

Bush Trimming

I was trying to trim the hedges myself, but I could never reach the top of the hedges. Your guys shaped them into a straight line and did all the clean up in just two hours. Thanks for doing such a.great job and giving me back my weekend!

Bush Trimming

When it comes to hedge trimming, Jake is the best! I don't know why I wasted money on pruning tools, I can never get the shrubs and hedges to look as neat as he does. I want him to return at the end of spring.

FAQ

question How do I know how short to trim my bushes?

  • Trimming encourages new plant growth for a fuller, healthier bush or shrub. During the pruning season, trim about a third of your established plant’s good wood. Trim any more, and you risk shocking your plant or stunting its growth. Trim less than one-third, and you won’t see a noticeable difference in your plant’s growth.
  • If you’re pruning dead limbs, remove them near the base. Always trim your hedges at an angle, so that it’s wider at the bottom and slightly narrower at the top. This angle helps ensure sunlight will reach the lower branches and the root system.

question How often should I trim my bushes?

  • It’s ok to remove dead or weak branches, watersprouts, and suckers throughout the year. A light trimming through the year also works. But trimming one-third of your shrub or bush should be reserved for once a year during the major pruning season.
  • Each plant has a recommended pruning season. But when in doubt, trim and prune your shrub or bush after flowering.

question What's a fair price for bush trimming?

Expect to pay around $60 per hour for bush trimming or $8 per bush.
