A better lawn care solution for residents of Cumming
Cumming was named for William Cumming, who made a name for himself in the War of 1812. It comprised two 40 acre lots bought in the land lottery of Cherokee territory in 1833. This was a year after Forsyth County was established, and Cumming became the county seat in 1834.
Cumming began with a courthouse and post office. It was a small community, out of the way of major thoroughfares or even flash points during the Civil War. The Gold Rush saw a major rush in Cumming, but the California Gold Rush stole Cumming's thunder. Simultaneously, the railroad came along, which also took traffic away from Cumming. Cumming remained a small country town until the present day.
