Better Living, Better Lawn Care in Murrieta
For most of its early history, the area around Murrieta was lightly populated. The town was named after a rancher who brought sheep to the valley in the 1870s, and by the1890s, around 800 people lived in here. It wasn't until the I-15 came through in the early 1980s that a big population boom began, By the late 1980s, suburban neighborhoods were being constructed, and people began moving to the Murrieta area from cities and towns in San Diego and Orange Counties, as well as other parts of Riverside County, as the population grew rapidly; in 1980, the population was only 2,200. By 1990, it had risen to 24,000, and by 2010, the population here stood at more than 100,000 people.
There are a lot of reasons why this little town grew so quickly; it’s a nice place to live! It’s not only situated in a pleasant valley with plenty of sunshine, but there are also a lot of things to do. For one thing, there’s the Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve. Covering thousands of acres, there are more than 59 sensitive and endangered species on the Santa Rosa Plateau. There are meadows, streams and vernal pools, rare Engelmann oaks, and rolling grasslands. The reserve is home to many animals, including badgers, mountain lions, gray foxes, deer, and bobcats, as well as more than 200 species of birds.
Tenaja Falls on Cleveland Forest Road is intermittent, however, during the summer, it’s very hot. It’s a nice hike on a cool spring or winter day, after a rain, when it’s green and the stream is flowing.
The California Oaks Sports Park has softball fields, volleyball, basketball, tennis, skateboarding, a swimming pool and a playground for the kids. The park also has bathrooms and nice shade trees as well. It’s a nice place to spend the day, playing with friends and family.
Murrieta also has three golf courses, including the private Bear Creek Golf & Country Club. The California Oaks Golf Course is a public 18-hole course and the Golf Club at Rancho California is located on the east side of town.
This city also has a Mulligan Family Fun Center with not only miniature golf, but also go-kart racing, laser tag, as well as an arcade and a movie theater. The Aerosports Trampoline Park and EPIC Rollertainment, both on Avenida Acacias are just two more places for family fun here in Murrieta.
The annual Rod Run, a classic car show held in October, is a place where classic car owners can showcase their rides. Everyone will enjoy the hundreds of classic cars lining the streets. It’s free, and also features food and live entertainment.
