Making Lawn Care Easy in Vancouver, WA
Living in Vancouver, WA means a lot of things to a lot of people. Some may think of the rivers, foothills and mountains of the Cascade Range that dominate the landscape. Others may think of having the perfect blend of rural and urban amenities. After all, many locals enjoy the benefits of living in a major city while also being just a short drive away from country wilderness.
History
Even more people may admire the unique blend of history and diversity that helped to shape the region. One of the most interesting things about this history is the surprising amount of different nationalities that initially settled the region, which can still be felt today. For example, French and English settlers were responsible for many of the names in the region, and their dialect shows.
Prairie was used by the French when naming flat open areas, while the English used Plain; with that in mind, the likes of Brush Prairie and Mill Plain help to highlight who settled where. However, it's many of the natural attractions that many people will first notice, especially during Spring and Summer. The Columbia River Gorge or Cascade Range foothills offer a range of trails for anybody who's feeling adventurous and outdoorsy.
If you're somewhat of a history buff then Vancouver has a lot to offer, as local history goes all the way back to 1776. This is when Europeans and Native Americans had first contact in Vancouver before the Lewis & Clark expedition reached the region in 1806. Fort Vancouver continued to grow over the following decades with the introduction of French-Canadian, Scottish and English settlers to name only a few. This growth eventually ended up making the Fort the largest population center on the west coast of North America.
However, not everything was clean sailing; the United States had to set its first Army base just above Fort Vancouver in 1849 in response to rising tensions between Native Americans and settlers. Fort Vancover officially became an incorporated city not long later. When it comes to some interesting facts about the Army base, it could also be noted that Civil War general and then-future U.S. President Ulysses S. Grant was quartermaster there for fifteen months. Nobel Peace Prize recipient George C. Marshall also served there for a time.
Natural Amenities
The Columbia River, Vancouver Lake, Lacamas Lake, and Washougal River not only add to the beautiful scenery, but offer a wide range of attractions that almost everybody can enjoy. There are 113 parks (76 developed) and 20 miles of trails for everyone to enjoy during the Summer and Spring months. But the fun doesn't stop once Summer is over; the surrounding mountain ranges offer the likes of snowboarding and other events during the Winter and Autumn months. Because of that, Vancouver has something to offer everyone regardless of the season.
Working Life
Working life in Vancouver is also just as diverse as the landscape is. Following the trend in many other cities, much of the workforce are becoming remote or freelance workers who aim to see a better life in or around the city. That's not to say that most people are self employed; on the contrary, there are a number of companies that are relatively large and employ much of the Vancouver based workforce.
