Making Yard Work Easy in Scottsdale
The sixth-largest city in Arizona, Scottsdale, or “The West's Most Western Town", incorporated in 1951, is so much more than just a desert town in the Greater Phoenix area. In fact, it's even been compared to Miami's glamorous South Beach area, except without the ocean, of course. And the trendy bars and hotels are just the tip of the iceberg. If you are in Scottsdale, you know there is a plethora of things to do for everyone, no matter your walk of life or interests.
How about resorts? Scottsdale is well-versed in resorts, its first dating all the way back to 1909. Now they have over 70. In fact, Scottsdale sits at the number four ranking in the United States when it comes to AAA Five-Diamond hotels and resorts.
World famous architecture? Check. You’ve most likely heard of Frank Lloyd Wright. Now see his work in Scottsdale. There’s the Taliesin West house which was actually constructed with stone and sand from the neighboring Sonoran desert. Take a guided tour or explore the splendor on your own. You can also check out his spire statue at the Promenade Mall.
If you’re looking for hiking, look in Scottsdale. Check out the seven trailheads at the 30,000 acre McDowell Sonoran Preserve or take a hike up Pinnacle Peak for stellar views.
A day in the park? Scottsdale has over ten parks to choose from. Check out Indian School Park, Vista Del Camino Park, Chapparal Park, or Cactus Park, just for starters.
Yearning for a ranch experience? Scottsdale has got you covered. Get out your chaps and spurs (or just whatever you feel comfy in) and giddy on up.
Shopping, anyone? The Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall, at 2,049,169 square feet is one of the top twenty largest malls in all of the United States. And it also boasts some of the most high-end stores and shopping in the Southwest.
Scottsdale is also for art lovers. In addition to over 125 galleries and studios to admire, the city also hosts an art festival every year, and Downtown Scottsdale features three art districts showcasing different types of art. Not to mention the Cattletrack arts compound and Paolo Soleri’s Cosanti.
If a day at the museum is on your wish list, you’re really in luck in Scottsdale. Check out the Musical Instrument Museum, the home to Johnny Cash’s guitar. Or the Museum of Contemporary Art, or one of the newest, the Museum of the West, dedicated to celebrating and commemorating western life and its contributions to the United States. And don’t forget the House of Broadcasting Museum, the Penske Racing Museum, and the Fiesta Bowl Museum.
Fore! The Scottsdale area has a whopping 200 golf courses! Choose from desert style or original greens. Just make sure you bring your clubs and visors.
If nightlife is your thing, Downtown Scottsdale is the place for drinks, eats, and of course, dancing. Or head to Casino Arizona or Talking Stick Resort for all the same, plus gambling. Scottsdale itself has over 600 restaurants for you to dine.
And that's not nearly it. There's the Arabian Horse Show, the western-themed Parada del Sol parade, the Barrett-Jackson Auto Show, the Scottsdale Culinary Festival, The Center for Performing Arts, events at WestWorld, McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park, Butterfly Wonderland, the Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center, Arizona Cowboy College, ATV tours, seaplane rides over Arizona landmarks like the Grand Canyon and Lake Powell, the Xeriscape Garden, the Carefree Desert Garden, the Salt River, hot air balloon rides, Octane Raceway, the chocolate tour, and oh so much more.
