Better Lawn Care in Hamilton
Hamilton is more than just a suburb of Cincinnati and Dayton. Our history dates back to 1791 when the U.S. Army constructed Fort Hamilton. It’s now home to the prestigious Miami University and 63,000 people.
We’ve got all the amenities of the big city with plenty of small-town charm. The Arbor Day and U.S. Forest Service have recognized Hamilton as a “Tree City USA” community every year for the last 15 years. One trip through this urban forest and you’ll understand why. This city has more than 13,000 trees and a wide array of wildlife. The city arborist maintains and cares for the trees and makes sure they don’t interfere with the municipal power lines.
The city is a history buff’s delight. The Lane Hooven House is a must-see. Built in 1863, it’s one of the first homes in Ohio. The Solider, Sailors and Pioneers Monument sits on the site of Fort Hamilton. A 17-foot civil war soldier on top of the sculpture overlooks the area.
The Butler County Historical Society maintains the Benninghofen House as a museum. It was once the home of one of the city’s first prominent businessman. You can tour the home and marvel at the furnishings representing the lifestyle of a wealthy family during the Victorian Era.
Have some time on your hands this weekend? Go explore the German Village just north of Hamilton’s central business district. Stroll along the Great Miami River and enjoy the city’s first residential development. The nine-block area is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. German Village showcases a variety of 19th-century architectural styles including Queen Anne and Gothic Revival.
It’s easy to wear-out your hiking and running shoes here. Voice of America Park in West Chester includes six miles of walking and jogging trails, athletic fields, and the Wiggly Field Dog Park. Smith Park in Middletown features playground equipment, picnic tables, grills, baseball diamonds, and a seven-acre fishing pond.
Feeling adventurous? Try a skydiving lesson with Start Skydiving or Team Fastrax. If you prefer watching sports, The University of Miami has plenty of opportunities. Yager Stadium is home to the Redhawks football team. The Men’s Ice Hockey team and the Synchronized Skating Team compete at the Goggin Ice Center.
