The center of town has a fun-things-to-do-hub in Les Gove Community Campus and Park. This 20-acre park features the library, the senior center, the parks, arts, and recreation facility, and is the future home of the Community Center. The arts program also feature classes so folks can try their hand at creative works in a wide variety of mediums including fused glass and block printing. Theater devotees can catch a local show put on by the Auburn Community Players twice a year. These volunteer actors have brought their talents to the stage in such productions as βBye Bye Birdie,β βThe Wizard of Oz,β and βSeusical the Musical.β
People who prefer to get their recreation outdoors can enjoy an extensive system of outdoor spaces, parks, and trails throughout the town. There are 33 different parks in the community, each offering different amenities like playgrounds, skateboarding areas, bird or wildlife viewing tower, open spaces, and access to the Green River. Many also have a βfree little libraryβ where readers can borrow a book and put one of their own back.
The city also boasts 4.5 miles of the Interurban Trail, a 24-mile asphalt rail to trail project that connects Seattle to Everett. Folks can get out and walk, ride a bike, or strap on a pair of skates to enjoy this beautiful option.
History buffs love to visit the White River Valley Museum that is found in the Les Gove Park. This comprehensive museum preserves and shares the history of King County and the people who settled there. This mission is further carried out by the adjacent Mary Olsen Farm, a 67-acre farmstead that highlights farm life in the 19th century.
