Lawn Care Made Easy in Puyallup
About 10 miles east of Tacoma, Puyallup is perfectly positioned as the gateway to Mt Rainier and Seattle. It also happens to be home to the Washington State Fair. The name comes from the Puyallup tribe indigenous to the region and means “the generous people.” This wonderful place to live is filled with friendly folks and plenty of interesting activities.
The State Fair attracts more than a million people to our city each year. But there are plenty of other Puyallup events each year. The Daffodil Festival in April celebrates the cheerful bloom. Meeker Days in June pays tribute to Ezra Meeker, pioneer of the Oregon Trail and town founder. The city busts out the dirndls and steins to the sweet sounds of accordions every fall for Oktoberfest.
Foodies take note: From April to October, the Puyallup Farmers’ Market sells fresh produce, flowers, and specialty items every Saturday at Pioneer Park. If you want an even closer look at where your food comes from, visit one of the nearby working farms. See baby chicks and wander greenhouses or sample cider from any one of the several local apple orchards. The casual, hip vibe at Trackside Pizza is a local favorite, and HG Bistro dishes up all local steak and seafood fare.
It should go without saying that this town has rich outdoor offerings for nature lovers. Bradley Lake Park has a large pond and a lovely trail open to people and leashed dogs. Wooded areas and picnic benches are scattered throughout, and a large playground surrounded by benches is great for the kids. Pioneer Park is wide open and well-maintained and even offers a splash park to cool off in warmer weather. Take some time to check out all the interesting sculptures throughout the park. And this is just inside the city limits! A short drive away will bring you to old growth forests, magnificent mountains, and hikes ranging from easy to mountaineer levels.
