Charlie Brown — America’s most loveable cartoon kid and star of the Halloween classic “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” — would be proud of Omaha, NE.

Every October, Omaha’s Village Pointe shopping center hosts the Great Pumpkin Festival, whose highlight is the lighting of the city’s famous pumpkin “tree.” In addition, the Omaha area boasts a number of pumpkin patches. And we can’t overlook Omaha TV station KXVO’s rather creepy “Pumpkin Dance” video from 2006, which is set to the “Ghostbusters” theme song and has been viewed more than 8 million times on YouTube.

On top of all that, the Nextdoor neighborhood social network in 2017 named Omaha the second best city in the country for trick-or-treating.

Take all of that into account, and you can see why Omaha ranks as the top U.S. city for fascination with pumpkins.

To come up with this ranking, we reviewed Google search activity from October 2013 to October 2018 for the term “pumpkins.” With a perfect Google Trends score of 100, Omaha came out on top as the U.S. city with the most “pumpkins” search activity on Google. Data was available for 26 cities where Google Trends detected a high volume of searches for the term “pumpkins.”

Google Trends analyzes a percentage of all searches for a term such as “pumpkins” within the same time and location parameters, and then assigns a search score (1 through 100) to a geographic area.
