Which Out-of-State Metro Areas Deliver the Most New Residents to the Denver Area?

If you’ve lived in the Denver, CO, metro area for a while, you’ve probably noticed that a lot of your neighbors who’ve relocated to the Mile High City are from other places in Colorado.
Statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau show that four Colorado metro areas -- Boulder, Colorado Springs, Greeley and Fort Collins -- are the top suppliers of new residents to the Denver area. Here’s the rundown, based on estimates from the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey for 2010-14:
- Boulder -- 9,084 new residents per year for the Denver metro area.
- Colorado Springs -- 6,274 new residents per year for the Denver metro area.
- Greeley -- 4,478 new residents per year for the Denver metro area.
- Fort Collins -- 4,217 new residents per year for the Denver metro area.
So, where do new Denver arrivals from out of state come from? We crunched the Census Bureau numbers to answer that question. And you’ll also see how many Denver-area residents move to those same 12 out-of-state metros every year.
