Marietta's Best Tree Care
Marietta is a thriving city 20 miles northwest of Atlanta. Known for its excellent school system, this suburb has a population of roughly 60,000. It's perfect for people who want to enjoy everything Atlanta has to offer, without giving up that small-town feel.
Rich in history and culture, Marietta's historic town square dates back to the 19th century. The city has five nationally registered historic districts. You can visit the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, site of an important Civil War battle. There's even a museum dedicated to "Gone with the Wind," celebrating the Margaret Mitchell novel and its 1939 Hollywood adaptation.
Marietta has a long and storied history. Settled in the 1830s, it was the hub for the Western and Atlantic Railroad, causing the town to grow fast in its early years. After some political wrangling, the railroad depot moved to what would become Atlanta. In the 1850s, Marietta burned down in series of fires and was rebuilt in time for the town to play an significant role in the Civil War. General William Tecumseh Sherman invaded during the Atlanta campaign. In the Marietta Confederate Cemetery, you'll find the graves of 3,000 Confederate soldiers who died during this battle.
Sadly, in 1915, Marietta was the site of an infamous lynching. A jury convicted Leo Frank, a Jewish-American superintendent of a pencil factory, of murdering a 13-year old girl. After his incarceration, new evidence pointed the finger at another man. When the governor commuted Leo's death sentence, an organized mob abducted him from prison, brought him to Marietta, and killed him. In response to this, Jewish activists formed the Anti-Defamation League. Its goal is to educate Americans about Jewish life and prevent anti-Semitism.
Today, Marietta is a racially diverse community with a thriving culture. You can visit the weekly farmers market in the historic town square or check out the history and art museums. Catch a show at the Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre, or enjoy some music with the Glover Park Concert Series. Marietta is a family town with plenty of fun for the kids. Cobb County is home to Six Flags White Water, a 69-acre amusement park known for its water slides. The town is not without its quirkier attractions. You won't want to miss the Big Chicken, a 56-foot steel structure shaped like the bird. Built in 1956, this novelty architecture welcomes customers to a KFC located at Marietta's largest intersection.
With all this beautiful historic property, you definitely want to protect your home from falling trees and limbs.
