Little pieces of history are everywhere in Memphis, no matter where.
Music is a big part of Memphis history. It's home to some of the greatest pioneers of musical history. For example, there is Roy Orbison, Otis Redding, Al Green, B.B. King, Aretha Franklin, they all came from Memphis and changed the world through their art. Though, Memphis isn't just a city full of things that did happen. There are tons of other places to check out. For instance, walking the entire Mississippi River itself is not an afternoon event but, in Memphis, it can be. The River Walk is a five-block replica of the lower Mississippi River where every 30-inches equals a mile. The best part of the Mud Island River Park walk is that at the end of the stroll, there is a one-acre enclosure filled with 1.3 million gallons of water, imitating the Gulf of Mexico. Any visitor can pedal boat around the Gulf at the end of the "river".
If the outdoors are on the agenda, anyone hiking around may be in for a surprise along the Memphis trail. There are several pieces that show sculptures relaxing, even art needs to unwind apparently. These are the kinds of things people can miss when they're stuck handing out of control trees.
