Editor’s note: See more-current story: “Artificial turf making a comeback at NFL stadiums, MLB ballparks.”

During the 2015 season, a LawnStarter review showed that 17 NFL fields had natural grass surfaces and 14 had artificial turf surfaces.

In all, 32 teams compete in the NFL; the New York Giants and New York Jets share a stadium.

The Baltimore Ravens were the last NFL team to switch when before the 2016 season, the Ravens’ M&T Bank Stadium replaced the artificial turf with natural grass.

According to BaltimoreRavens.com, players’ reviews of the new field have been “overwhelmingly positive.” For instance, fullback Kyle Juszczyk praised the natural grass as “top of the line.”

“It’s premium right now. I could go out and putt on this thing right now,” Juszczyk told BaltimoreRavens.com in August. “I’m very pro grass. My knees feel better after practice … .”

Here’s the rundown of natural grass surfaces vs. artificial turf surfaces at NFL stadiums.
