Mosquito Control

You want to enjoy a nice evening by the fire pit roasting marshmallows. But instead, you’re slapping away mosquitoes. TruGreen’s Mosquito Defense offers a solution. A TruGreen specialist will use a professional mosquito repellent to control mosquito populations within 24 hours of treatment. One treatment will offer protection for one month.

Tree and Shrub Care

Your trees and shrubs are the last pieces to complete the masterpiece of your yard. Tree and shrub maintenance is often forgotten, but not with TruGreen’s Tree and Shrub Care. TruGreen’s tree and shrub care includes fertilization (for enhanced growth and color) and protection against diseases, insects, and mites.

Soil Amendment and Analysis

Is your yellow turf not responding to fertilizer? There may be a problem with the soil’s pH level. A TruGreen specialist will return your soil to the proper pH balance by applying the appropriate soil amendment over the lawn. The amendments will help your grass roots to absorb nutrients and grow healthier.

TruGreen Louisville Customer Reviews

Your Aunt in New York swears by TruGreen, but your cousin in Colorado warns against the lawn company. TruGreen has hundreds of branches across the country, so it’s best to hear what your neighbors have to say about your local TruGreen branch. That’s why we’ve collected the following customer reviews for Louisville’s nearest TruGreen:

Positive Review: We have been TruGreen Lawn Care customers for 17+ years now. We have been extremely happy with their service and our lawn care. Their customer service is excellent!” – Kelly J. (Google Review)

Positive Review: I was completely satisfied today on my 1st application with TruGreen. I have a new lawn and I had some questions I wanted to ask. The technician took some time with me today and walked around my property and answered all my questions knowing he’s on a time frame with his other appointments. So for my 1st experience with TruGreen, I would rate this as a 10 experience with the technician’s professionalism and hopefully the new yard I have will look like a 10 in the near future.” – Wendell S. (Google Review)

Negative Review: I’ve had TruGreen for a few years now and I’ve really never been happy with their service, my yard looks terrible after all these years. The customer service is not great, to say the least. This year I decided to fix my yard and spent 4 grand on new soil and sod in the majority of my front yard and side yard – TruGreen came out and did a yard application and killed large spots in my newly sodded yard. I told them about it and the manager came out and agreed. Their solution was early seeding, which never happened. My yard still has burnt places. Needless to say, I have changed services and will report them to BBB.” – Jim W. (Yelp Review)

Benefits of Lawn Care Services

Still on the fence about lawn care? Sometimes lawn care jargon like aeration and overseeding can sound like gibberish, but these treatments can have a big impact on your lawn’s health. Let’s take a look at how TruGreen’s services can boost your lawn.

Benefits of Fertilization

Fertilizer keeps your lawn healthy by supplementing the soil with the essential nutrients nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. When your soil is deficient in these nutrients, your turfgrass weakens and struggles to grow, causing it to become more susceptible to pests and disease damage.

Here’s what the three essential nutrients can do for your lawn’s health:

  • Nitrogen gives your lawn its color and thickness
  • Phosphorus aids in your lawn’s healthy root development
  • Potassium strengthens the grass so it can resist stressors like heat and drought

Benefits of Aeration

Over time, the soil in your lawn compacts, making it difficult for your turf’s roots to receive water, air, and nutrients. Core aeration removes plugs of soil from the ground to relieve compaction and allow the good stuff to reach the roots.

Aeration also helps to:

  • Improve root growth
  • Reduce thatch, the buildup of organic matter over the soil. Too much thatch blocks air, water, and nutrients from reaching the soil and invites pests and diseases.
  • Improve drainage
  • Prepare the soil for overseeding

Benefits of Soil Amendments

We’ve covered why nutrients are important for soil, but pH balance should also be top of mind. Why? Because when soil pH is too low or too high, the grass roots are unable to uptake available nutrients.

Soil amendments help improve the physical nature of the soil, such as lime (raises pH, reducing acidity) and sulfur (lowers pH, increases acidity). By returning the pH to a balanced level between 6.0 and 7.0, your turf will have a much better chance for healthy growth.

Benefits of Weed Control

Crabgrass and white clover are common weeds in Louisville lawns. Some people opt for white clover because of its natural fertilizing properties, but if that’s not you, then proper weed control will help reduce those weeds and others.

When weeds are given the opportunity, they will seek the water, air, and nutrients that are intended for your turf. By eliminating weeds with effective weed control, you’ll eliminate this competition and increase your lawn’s health.

Benefits of Overseeding

Overseeding thickens up thin, patchy lawns. If your grass has been stressed recently by drought, pests, or diseases, add more grass seed to bring it back to its former glory. Don’t forget to address the original problem first––seeds can’t cure your lawn on their own.

Buyers Guide to Choosing a Lawn Care Company

Choosing the right lawn care company is a process. Let’s briefly go through some important things to consider when choosing a lawn care company.

Technician Training

You want to have confidence that the technician you’re hiring is trained for the job. What does the company’s training look like? Is continuous training required? It’s important for technicians to receive ongoing training so they can stay up-to-date on the latest industry standards.

Licensed and Insured

It is always better to go with a company that is licensed and insured. If an employee is injured on your property (or your property is damaged) you won’t have to worry about liability or repair costs.

Company Size

Company size often affects how quickly you receive service. If a company is spread too thin with not enough employees, you might be waiting a while to receive service. That’s not ideal if you have immediate needs.

FAQ About Lawn Care

When Is the Best Time to Water My Lawn?

The best time to water the lawn is before 10 A.M. This gives your lawn enough time to absorb the moisture before the afternoon sun evaporates the water. Watering in the evenings encourages lawn diseases and pests.

Do I Need to Bag My Grass Clippings After I Mow?

It depends. Grass clippings have nutrients, and allowing them to stay on your lawn lets your lawn receive those healthy nutrients. You’ll also save time by leaving the clippings on your lawn since you won’t have to bag them.

On the other hand, if you notice any signs of lawn disease, you should bag those clippings so the disease doesn’t spread. You can also bag grass clippings if you simply don’t like how they look on your lawn.

What Are the Benefits of Having a Healthy Lawn?

Having a healthy lawn can have personal and environmental benefits. Some customers feel a sense of accomplishment while enjoying their dense lawn, which contributes to less stress and a boosted immune system. In addition, healthy lawns can reduce erosion and runoff, have a cooling effect, and increase oxygen generation.

DIY Lawn Care

Mower? Check. Weed eater and edger? Check. Irrigation system or sprinkler? Check. Lawns require a significant commitment of time and energy. During the active growing season, a lawn will need a weekly mow plus ensuring adequate water. That only touches the basics, though.

You may want to invest in a spreader to evenly distribute fertilizer, new grass seed, or granular weed killer. A tool to aerate your lawn might be a good investment, too.

Remember: Be careful with your DIY lawn care because overfertilizing and overwatering could make your lawn more susceptible to pests and diseases. Oh no!

Is DIY lawn maintenance starting to sound like a big mountain to climb? Sometimes, hiring a pro is the best way to go, especially if you want to relax on the weekends. When your ailing lawn needs a health boost, call up a TruGreen specialist. When your lawn needs trimming, edging, and mowing, turn to the LawnStarter pros.
