Infographic: What Would Fit Into Cerner’s Trails Campus?

In its heyday, more than 180 stores operated at Bannister Mall in Kansas City, MO. But as growth moved southward and westward, the mall fell out of favor with shoppers. In 2007, Bannister Mall closed its doors.

Today, developers are breathing new life into the land where Bannister Mall once stood. Construction is underway on a massive project being spearheaded by locally based Cerner, a health care technology giant. The 16-building office and retail development, said to be the biggest economic development undertaking in Missouri history, will encompass 4.7 million square feet.

“The Cerner Trails campus will be the largest office park in Missouri history and transform the Bannister Mall area into a regional economic engine,” Cerner says.

LawnStarter decided to look under the engine, if you will, to see just how large this project is. We took out the measuring tape and determined the size of 14 other structures you’d find in Kansas City; we then did the math to calculate how many of those structures could fit into the completed Trails Campus. Behold our findings in the infographic below.
