I was having a major problem with the pests in my house. I'm currently away at college and my parents called me to tell me about it. The only thing I could do for them was hire the best pest control company in town to get rid of them and they came through for me.

Making Henrico's Pests Henri-Go Away

Founded in 1634, Henrico is one of the oldest counties in the United States. It has seen the country through most of its history. Until 1842, Richmond was a part of Henrico County. Even though it is independent now, Henrico locals can still enjoy the nearby sights and sounds of the city. These include historic sites such as the White House of the Confederacy and renowned museums such as the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Henrico is more than Richmond's bedroom community, though. It has its own attractions, such as the Richmond Raceway, which hosts two NASCAR weekends annually.

Henrico County started out as a small settlement on Farrar's Island called the Citie of Henricus. In the Indian massacre of 1622, Native Americans drove the English settlers from the stolen land and destroyed the town. Twelve years later, Henrico Shire was established as one of the original eight Shires of Virginia. During the Revolutionary War, the Henrico militia fought Benedict Arnold's men in Richmond in 1781. Later, during the Civil War, Henrico was the site of several battles as part of the Peninsula Campaign. These included the Battle of Seven Pines, the Battle of Savage's Station, and the Battle of Oak Grove. Confederate General J.E.B. Stuart died in Henrico County in 1864 at the Battle of Yellow Tavern.

Today, Henrico County celebrates its long history with several historic sites and museums. Locals can visit the Fort Harrison Battlefield, where the Union and Confederacy fought during the Civil War. Meadowview Park has sites from across history. The park is home to areas where prehistoric Native Americans lived and the bluff from which Robert E. Lee watched the Seven Day's Battle. At the Clark-Palmore House Museum, guests can experience a local farming family's life during the Great Depression. There is also the Virginia Randolph Museum. It honors the legacy of the Black educator who became the country's first "Jeanes Supervising Industrial Teacher" in 1908.

Henrico has plenty of recreation for locals who aren't interested in history, as well. Tuckahoe Creek Park has a boardwalk on the creek, picnic tables, and a fishing dock for families to enjoy. At Deep Bottom Park & Four Mile Creek, you can go kayaking or canoeing. Henrico also has several spots for shopaholics, including The Shops at White Oak on the eastern side and the historic Shops at Willow Lawn.
