Which Dallas-Fort Worth Suburb Is Right for You? [Infographic]

If you’re a single woman who dreams of being an artist and wants to live around fellow millennials, Addison might be the right Dallas-Fort Worth, TX, suburb for you. What about if you’re a 40-year-old family guy who’s got his eye on a sales job? The suburb of Fate could be your best bet.

How do we know that? Well, we don’t have superpowers or a crystal ball. We simply tested a U.S. Census Bureau app called Dwellr. The easy-to-use app lets you figure out the top 25 U.S. cities that fit your lifestyle based on boatloads of census data.

To come up with the list of suburbs you’ll find in the infographic below, we had to pick from a basket of 11 options on the app. The default options we chose for all eight scenarios were:

• Suburb
• Southern U.S., including Texas
• Communities not in a coastal or mountain setting
• Drive to work alone
• Temperate climate

Then, we mixed it up by selecting different demographic traits from this menu:

• Gender
• Marital status -- Married, never married, divorced, widowed
• Dream job -- Careers range from actor to firefighter
• Community preference -- College graduates 18-34, families with children, adults 65 and over, no preference
• Age group most associated with your friends -- Sliding scale with different age brackets
• Education level most associated with your friends -- Less than high school graduate, high school graduate, some college, associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, graduate degree or higher, all of the above

The results of our experiment appear in the infographic below, and we hope they’ll provide some inspiration. Each place listed in the infographic was the top-ranked Dallas-Fort Worth suburb for each scenario.
