These three cities each offer <strong>plenty of cornhole venues<\/strong>, <strong>clubs<\/strong>, and <strong>tournaments <\/strong>for those with a competitive streak.&nbsp;<\/p>    <p><strong>New Jersey<\/strong> is <strong>missing out<\/strong> on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/olympics\/story\/_\/id\/31944288\/the-next-great-olympic-sport-cornhole\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>cornhole craze<\/strong><\/a>. All three Garden State cities \u2014 <strong>Paterson<\/strong> (No. 198), <strong>Jersey City<\/strong> (No. 199), and <strong>Newark<\/strong> (No. 200) \u2014 <strong>disappoint<\/strong> at the bottom, <strong>lacking cornhole venues<\/strong>, <strong>yard space<\/strong>, <strong>clubs<\/strong>, and <strong>events<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>    <h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Standout Stats<\/h3>    <p><strong>Texas Throwdown<\/strong><\/p>    <ul class=\"wp-block-list\"> <li><strong>Houston tossed to the top<\/strong> with the <strong>most cornhole clubs<\/strong> and the <strong>3rd-highest number<\/strong> of <strong>cornhole venues<\/strong>. Space City also <strong>hosted 374 cornhole tournaments<\/strong> in the past year, the <strong>6th-highest number<\/strong> in our ranking.&nbsp;<\/li> <\/ul>    <p><strong>California Catapults<\/strong><\/p>    <ul class=\"wp-block-list\"> <li><strong>25 Golden State cities<\/strong> cast their way into the <strong>first half of our ranking<\/strong>. Folks don\u2019t need their own boards in <strong>San Jose <\/strong>(No. 9), which offers the <strong>most cornhole venues<\/strong>. Sunny <strong>San Diego<\/strong> (No. 2) <strong>tied<\/strong> with <strong>Phoenix<\/strong> (No. 3) for the <strong>most <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iplaycornhole.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>American Cornhole League<\/strong><\/a><strong> (ACL) Directors<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li> <\/ul>    <p><strong>Tourney Time<\/strong><\/p>    <ul class=\"wp-block-list\"> <li><strong>Wichita, Kansas<\/strong> (No. 102), hosted the <strong>most cornhole tournaments<\/strong> in the past year \u2014 an astounding <strong>666<\/strong>. <strong>Indianapolis<\/strong> (No. 4) follows closely behind with <strong>564 tournaments<\/strong>, and <strong>Albuquerque, New Mexico<\/strong> (No. 112), claims the <strong>3rd-highest<\/strong> number, <strong>541<\/strong>. These <a href=\"https:\/\/scoreholio.com\/cornhole\/tournaments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Scoreholio<\/a> tournaments are a mix of <strong>casual and competitive events<\/strong> hosted by local leagues.&nbsp;<\/li> <\/ul>    <p><strong>Professional Pitches&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>    <ul class=\"wp-block-list\"> <li><strong>Salem, Oregon<\/strong> (No. 40) \u2014 the <strong>only Beaver State city<\/strong> to finish <strong>in the top 100<\/strong> \u2014 scheduled <strong>the most ACL events <\/strong>so far for the <strong>upcoming year<\/strong>, followed by <strong>Chicago<\/strong> (No. 17) and <strong>Chesapeake, Virginia<\/strong> (No. 13). Players compete in these events if they aspire to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iplaycornhole.com\/pros\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">qualify<\/a> for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iplaycornhole.com\/event\/22-23\/national\/world\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ACL World Championships<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/li> <\/ul>    <p><strong>Virginia Is for Cornhole Lovers<\/strong><\/p>    <ul class=\"wp-block-list\"> <li><strong>Five Old Dominion cities<\/strong> launched in the <strong>upper half<\/strong> <strong>of our leaderboard<\/strong>, with <strong>Virginia Beach<\/strong> (No. 6) ranking in the <strong>top 10<\/strong>. Resort City offers the <strong>best overall Access<\/strong>, with plenty of <strong>park and yard space<\/strong>, as well as the <strong>2nd-highest number <\/strong>of<strong> cornhole venues<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li> <\/ul>    <p><strong>Big-City Interest<\/strong><\/p>    <ul class=\"wp-block-list\"> <li><strong>New York<\/strong> (No. 52), <strong>Los Angeles<\/strong> (No. 14), and <strong>Houston<\/strong> (No. 1) boast the <strong>top three<\/strong> highest <strong>cornhole-related Google search volumes<\/strong>, respectively. <strong>Unfortunately for<\/strong> cornhole-curious <strong>New Yorkers<\/strong> and <strong>Angelenos<\/strong>, their cities have scarce <strong>Access<\/strong> to <strong>cornhole venues<\/strong> and <strong>spacious backyards<\/strong>. <strong>NYC<\/strong> also <strong>lacks<\/strong> <strong>ACL leagues<\/strong> and <strong>directors<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li> <\/ul>   <p><a class=\"js-anchor\" id=\"ask-the-experts\"><\/a><\/p>  <div id=\"experts-block\" class=\"experts\">     <h2 class=\"text-2xl font-bold text-black mb-3\">Ask The Experts<\/h2>    <p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">With some practice and a kernel of luck, anyone can become a cornhole champion. Cornhole, on the other hand, is the opposite. It\u2019s a competitive game for all ages and skill levels, especially the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iplaycornhole.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">American Cornhole League<\/a> \u2014 the world&#8217;s largest national cornhole league.<\/p> <p><strong>What are your top three tips for someone playing cornhole for the first time?<\/strong><\/p> <p>As the ACL Regional Director for North Mississippi, I always encourage people to play even if they are new. Here are some of my tips for them:<\/p> <p>1. &#8220;We all started somewhere, so don&#8217;t be nervous,&#8221; which is what I always tell the players (you can ask most of them).<\/p> <p>2. Do not forget to have fun while you are playing.<\/p> <p>3. We started our cornhole league, 662 Cornhole, to bring people together like one big family \u2014 so cheer your partners on and don&#8217;t get mad at a loss or bad throw. It is a game where you are supposed to have a great time.<\/p> <p><strong>What kind of training is required for amateur cornhole players who aspire to go pro?<\/strong><\/p> <p>If you are an amateur wanting to go pro, I would get your own set of boards and bags. Think about football or baseball players that are pros, they train year-round to stay in shape and nail down routines and drills. The same goes for cornhole.<\/p> <ul> <li>I recommend throwing bags for at least two hours \u2014 or until you are tired \u2014 and then going for another 30 minutes to work on your endurance and find a routine that works for you when you step up to the board.<\/li> <\/ul> <ul> <li>While practicing, it is good to have a clear mind and remember you are practicing to nail down the trick shots, basic shots, and even air mails, so do not get frustrated. I am competitive and have to remind myself daily to reset \u2014 meaning step back from the board for a second \u2014 then restart.<\/li> <\/ul> <p>Going to your local blind draw and ACL regionals in your area will help you use these skills and see where you stand competitively. If you do not do as you hope, hold your head high and keep going. We then assigned a weight to each factor based on its importance and grouped those factors into three categories: Access, Community, and Popularity.
