Coastal cities \u2014 <strong>Miami<\/strong> (No. 1), <strong>San Francisco<\/strong> (No. 2), and <strong>New York<\/strong> (No. 3) \u2014 scooped their way to the top with <strong>high Access<\/strong>, <strong>Consumer Satisfaction<\/strong>, and <strong>Popularity<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>    <p>Meanwhile, hot Southern cities melted to the bottom of our ranking \u2014 such as <strong>Georgia<\/strong> cities <strong>Columbus<\/strong> (No. 197) and <strong>Macon<\/strong> (No. 199) \u2014 alongside <strong>Montgomery, Alabama<\/strong> in last place. Their low scores are due to a <strong>lack of ice cream Access<\/strong>, <strong>low Consumer Satisfaction<\/strong>, and <strong>little interest <\/strong>despite scorching temperatures.&nbsp;<\/p>    <p>It doesn\u2019t help that Southern cities tend to sprawl \u2014 if you don\u2019t stay at the ice cream shop, your cone is sure to melt on your drive home. Like most Americans, residents likely buy their ice cream from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idfa.org\/ice-cream-sales-trends#:~:text=Where%20do%20consumers,it%20at%20home.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">grocery store<\/a> instead.<\/p>    <h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sweetest Stats<\/h3>    <p><strong>Sunny Sundaes<\/strong><strong><br><\/strong><\/p>    <ul class=\"wp-block-list\"> <li><strong>Miami<\/strong> (No. 1) boasts the <strong>best ice cream Access<\/strong> in our ranking, with <strong>over four vendors per square mile<\/strong>. The <strong>next-best Access<\/strong> is found in <strong>San Francisco<\/strong> (No. 2) with a little over <strong>three vendors per square mile<\/strong>. For those who prefer denser desserts, Magic City also offers the <strong>most gelaterias, 0.89 per square mile<\/strong>.<\/li> <\/ul>    <p><strong>California Confections<\/strong><strong><br><\/strong><\/p>    <ul class=\"wp-block-list\"> <li>The Golden State churns out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.californiadairypressroom.com\/Products\/Ice_Cream#:~:text=California%20is%20the%20nation%E2%80%99s%20largest%20ice%20cream%20producer.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>most ice cr<\/strong><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.californiadairypressroom.com\/Products\/Ice_Cream#:~:text=California%20is%20the%20nation%E2%80%99s%20largest%20ice%20cream%20producer.\"><strong>eam<\/strong><\/a> in the U.S., and <strong>33 Cali cities<\/strong> ranked in the <strong>top half<\/strong> of our leaderboard. <strong>Los Angeles<\/strong> (No. 4) offers <strong>125 top-rated ice cream<\/strong> and <strong>frozen yogurt vendors <\/strong>\u2014 the most in our ranking. Ice cream vendors in <strong>Pasadena<\/strong> (No. 18) claim the <strong>highest consumer rating<\/strong>, averaging <strong>4.29 out of 5<\/strong>.<\/li> <\/ul>    <p><strong>Lot o\u2019 Gelato<\/strong><strong><br><\/strong><\/p>    <ul class=\"wp-block-list\"> <li>Both frozen yogurt and gelato are tasty \u2014 and often <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/brucelee\/2016\/07\/16\/heres-the-scoop-about-gelato-vs-ice-cream-vs-frozen-yogurt\/?sh=6da1fcac2b98\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">healthier<\/a> \u2014 ice cream alternatives. However, each city scored among the <strong>top 40 cities<\/strong> with the <strong>most searches for ice cream<\/strong>, demonstrating potential markets for <strong>new \u2014 or better \u2014 ice cream shops<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li> <\/ul>    <p><strong>Bold City Flavors<\/strong><strong><br><\/strong><\/p>    <ul class=\"wp-block-list\"> <li><strong>Jacksonville, Florida <\/strong>(No. 43), claimed the <strong>most points<\/strong> from the past three <a href=\"https:\/\/worlddairyexpo.com\/pages\/World-Dairy-Expo-Dairy-Championship-Dairy-Product-Contest.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>World Dairy Expo Championships<\/strong><\/a>. We then assigned a weight to each factor based on its importance and grouped those factors into four categories: Access, Consumer Satisfaction, Popularity, and Contest Awards. The categories, factors, and their weights are listed in the table below.<\/p>    <p>For each of the 200 biggest U.S. cities, we then gathered data on each factor from the sources listed below the table.<\/p>    <p>Finally, we calculated scores (out of 100 points) for each city to determine its rank in each factor, each category, and overall.
