(2) Is designed with appropriate cross-connection safeguards; and (3) Complies with the Arkansas Plumbing Code.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>    <p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In layman&#8217;s terms, that means you can collect rainwater in Arkansas, but your harvesting system must be designed by a professional (so you can&#8217;t do it yourself), and you can&#8217;t use the water for consumption (such as drinking or cooking).&nbsp;<\/p>    <h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"14-rainwater-harvesting-incentives-in-arkansas\">Rainwater harvesting incentives in Arkansas<\/h3>    <p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The state of Arkansas&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.agriculture.arkansas.gov\/natural-resources\/divisions\/water-management\/tax-credits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Groundwater Conservation Tax Credit Program<\/a> offers tax credits of 50% of the project cost for impoundments (aka reservoirs) of 20 acres or larger used for agricultural irrigation.&nbsp;<\/p>    <h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"15-rainwater-harvesting-resources-for-arkansas\">Rainwater harvesting resources for Arkansas<\/h3>    <p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">See the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture&#8217;s publication on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uaex.uada.edu\/publications\/PDF\/fsa-9534.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Building Rain Barrels to Harvest Rainwater<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>    <h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"16-california-\">California&nbsp;<\/h2>    <h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"17-rainwater-harvesting-restrictions-in-california-\">Rainwater harvesting restrictions in California&nbsp;<\/h3>    <p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">California&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/leginfo.legislature.ca.gov\/faces\/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=201120120AB1750\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rainwater Capture Act of 2012 <\/a>states: &#8220;Use of rainwater collected from rooftops does not require a water right permit.&#8221;<\/p>    <p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That means you can use any rainwater you catch from your roof (with a rain barrel, for example) without restriction and without obtaining a permit. It means you can collect rainwater in an aboveground, covered storage container without a permit, as long as the container doesn&#8217;t hold more than 100 gallons.
