Bamboo screens and fences are trending right now because they\u2019re an eco-friendly and less expensive way to create privacy. They\u2019re easy to attach and can be fastened to the ground or used as a free-standing screen. You should stain them and seal the edges to keep water and debris from causing wear.<\/p>

Note that we\u2019re talking about cut bamboo. Dr. Jerry Parsons<\/a>, recently retired horticultural specialist from the Texas Cooperative Extension in San Antonio, famously nicknamed the bamboo plant \u201cDamn-boo.\u201d He says ornamental bamboo is useful as a screen or windbreak, but \u201csome bamboos SHOULD NEVER be planted this side of Hell!!!\u201d He calls the plant an aggressive creeper. \u201cThe aggressive bamboo can indiscriminately emerge through concrete walks, home foundations and even in darkened garages!\u201d While good fences make good neighbors, planting bamboo can make enemies of your neighbors when they\u2019re trying to get rid of it.<\/p>

Hedges<\/h2>

The best thing about privacy hedges is you can trim them to be as tall or short as you\u2019d like. The worst thing? You\u2019ve got to trim and prune them constantly!<\/p>
